Privacy policy

  1. Who we are. The Committee for the Resolution of Unresolved Minor Business is a satirical entertainment service operated by Finifunda (Pty) Ltd, registered in South Africa. For anything in this policy, email hello@crumbcommittee.org.
  2. What we collect. When you file: your email address, the text of your filing, and the time of filing. Payment is handled entirely by our merchant of record; we never see or store your card details. Your email is assigned a pseudonymous Petitioner Number, and your filing history is kept under it. We use no advertising trackers, no analytics cookies, and no fingerprinting; the only tokens we use are those strictly necessary to deliver your document and let you view it. Site statistics are aggregate counts with no per-visitor tracking. If you request the weekly Session Report by email, we also record that request and the address it applies to.
  3. How your filing is used. Your filing text is sent to our technology provider to generate your ruling, and passes automated safety screening before payment. No human reads your filing or your ruling in the ordinary course; access happens only where required to investigate a fault, abuse, or a legal obligation. Filings declined by safety screening are not entered into the record. We do this to perform our agreement with you: taking your filing, producing your document, delivering it, and keeping the record that lets you verify it afterwards. We also have a legitimate interest in screening filings for safety, in preventing abuse of the service, and in keeping aggregate statistics that contain no filing content. Where a law requires us to keep or hand over information, we do so because the law requires it. If you request the weekly Session Report by email, we use your delivery address, or the address you give us, to send it and for nothing else; the basis is your consent, which you withdraw by unsubscribing. Every Session Report email contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
  4. What is public. The public verification page shows case metadata only: case number, date, panel, outcome, notations. It never shows your filing text, your email, or your Petitioner Number. The document you receive carries a QR code on its face (the registry mark); anyone you show the document to, or any image of it that includes the QR code, can open and read the full document. Sharing the document is your decision to share what it says.
  5. Who receives data. Our merchant of record (payments); our technology provider (filing text, to generate your document); our email delivery provider (your address, to deliver it); our hosting provider (the infrastructure everything runs on). No one else. We never sell data.
  6. Retention. Sealed documents and case records are retained indefinitely: the permanent record is the product, and verification and reissue depend on it, unless you ask otherwise under clause 7.
  7. Your rights. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by email to hello@crumbcommittee.org. On a deletion request we remove your email address and your filing history, and, if you ask, your filings and documents themselves; a deleted document can no longer be verified or reissued. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under the EU or UK GDPR, South Africa's POPIA, Australia's Privacy Act, Canada's PIPEDA, or the privacy laws of your US state (such as the CCPA in California), including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
  8. Age. The service is for ages 16 and up, per the Terms.
  9. Changes. Changes to this policy are posted here with a new effective date. Effective: 24 July 2026.
